SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT - Tolliver Realty Group.
Welcome to our Small Business Spotlight, where we highlight an emerging or established business. The mission & vision of Swivel Works is to help small business owners gain exposure and success though the support of our community. We hope to share inspirational stories of founders & business owners that will give each of us insight into the joys, struggles, & reality of running a business today.
We are thrilled to introduce you to Ronda Marie Tolliver of Tolliver Realty Group.
WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR COMPANY AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?
Tolliver Realty Group. My company has been in business providing residential real estate services since 2015.
Why did you decide to open your own real estate business?
I followed my instinct and determined what I really wanted to accomplish. I no longer wanted to be part of a corporate lifestyle. My son is a big part of my inspiration. He is an Actor in NY and his confidence, work ethic and dedication to his craft has inspired me in ways he’ll never know.
What do you think are the key elements for starting and running a successful business?
Focus, dedication and no fear. You’ll hear MANY “no’s” but you have to use that as fuel to keep going, keep pushing and never giving up.
Do you have a mentor or someone who inspired you along your entrepreneurial journey?
My parents. My parents have always believed in my dreams even when I wasn’t so sure about them.
How did you fund your business when you first launched?
I used my own funds.
Excluding yours, what company or business do you admire the most? And why?
I admire any and every small business owner that decided to take a risk. Certainly, when the business/company is owned by women.
In one word, characterize your life as an entrepreneur.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Risking it all by starting my own business, not a franchise. Many thought I was crazy for starting from scratch. I’ve always been told if it’s easy everyone would do it, so I did it.
What do you attribute your success to?
My parents always telling me that I can do anything, and failure is not an option.
If you had one piece of advice to someone just starting out, what would it be?
Don't give up. Have no fear.
